WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM
Bekker High School and the surrounding schools and community used to have water supplied by Mogale city. Unfortunately, due to maintenance and supply issues, Mogale City could not keep on supplying water and now the schools and surrounding areas don’t have the choice of municipal water. In times of crisis, as happened two years ago when Bekker High School’s water pumps broke down, only water trucks could supply water to the schools.
The system is currently functional.
The site is supplied by
1. Borehole
2. River water (Magalies River)
Different areas in the purification system:
1. Main clean water catchment dams
2. Sand filtration units
3. Inspection house and chemical distribution centre
4. Two main underground water reservoirs
5. Pump station
6. Mountain storage tanks
7. Water distribution system
8. Areas that receive water from the system
